Key points of production process and quality control for ceramsite filter media
Ceramsite filter media, as an important water treatment material, is widely used in wastewater treatment, drinking water purification, and other fields. The optimization of its production process and quality control directly affect the performance and service life of the filter media.
Production process flow
The production of ceramsite filter media mainly includes four key stages: raw material processing, molding, sintering, and post-processing.
1. Select suitable raw materials according to the product’s intended use and perform pre-treatment such as crushing and grinding.
2. Subsequently, mix the processed raw materials in a specified ratio, add appropriate amounts of binder and water, and form uniform spherical particles using a granulator. The molded raw material balls need to be dried to remove moisture before being sintered in a kiln. The control of sintering temperature and time directly affects the strength and pore structure of the ceramsite.
3. After sintering, the ceramsite undergoes post-processing such as sieving and washing to ensure that the product specifications meet requirements.
Key points of quality control
Raw material control is fundamental to ensuring product quality. Strict screening of raw material sources is necessary to ensure stable chemical composition and prevent impurities from affecting sintering results. During the molding process, attention must be paid to particle uniformity to avoid excessively large or small particles affecting subsequent sintering and performance. The sintering process is the core step, and precise control of the temperature profile is crucial. The heating rate and holding time must be adjusted according to the raw material characteristics to ensure the formation of a stable microporous structure in the ceramic particles. The cooling process must also be carried out slowly to prevent cracking due to sudden temperature changes.
Performance Testing and Improvement
Finished products undergo rigorous quality testing, including strength testing, water absorption rate determination, and particle size distribution analysis. Testing data allows for the timely identification of problems in the production process; substandard water absorption rates may be related to raw material ratios. Based on the test results, product quality can be continuously improved by adjusting the raw material formula and optimizing the sintering process.
By strictly controlling the production process and key quality control points, the quality and performance of ceramsite filter media can be guaranteed, meeting increasingly stringent water treatment requirements.
