MBBR Core Features

High Specific Surface Area: The MBBR biofilm medium is made of polyethylene (PE) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a honeycomb or mesh structure on its surface, significantly increasing the surface area for microbial attachment. This structure allows a unit volume of medium to hold more microorganisms, thereby improving pollutant degradation efficiency.

Suspension Motion Characteristics: The medium’s density is close to that of water, allowing it to remain freely suspended within the reactor under aeration or water flow. Layered Biofilm Structure: Each medium layer creates an anaerobic/facultative environment within and an aerobic environment on the outside, forming a microreactor.
